3eightEnergy is a wholesale LPG energy distributor. The name stands for propane, a three-carbon alkane with the molecular formula C3H8. It is a gas at standard temperature and pressure, but compressible to a transportable liquid. A by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining, it is commonly used as a fuel. Discovered in 1857 by the French chemist Marcellin Berthelot, it became commercially available in the US by 1911. Propane is one of a group of liquefied petroleum gases (LP gases). 

It’s also a company, and whether it’s referred to as 3eightEnergy, 38 Energy, or 38E… 3eightEnergy is a brand,  representing a clean, efficient, affordable, and environmentally sound source of fuel for all Americans.

Why38E?

As a wholesale energy distributor, 38E completes the supply chain between the domestic producer of propane and the independent propane retailer. Whether originally from crude oil, natural gas, or renewable processing, all producers in the U.S. constantly look for consistent demand and better profit margins for their products. It’s critical to seek out relationships that span the entire supply chain, from production origin to the end user…. We must package a solid, reliable, and profitable option for the producer’s gas… move clean, green propane up the environmental ladder… and provide the bridge that brings value to the entire team. We don’t drill wells or own pipelines and storage caverns. Our upstream partners do that.  They don’t have the resources to market a value-added program and make the individual sales to hundreds of retailers an effective business… we do.

Our home and current propane demand footprint is the Southeastern U.S.  We have over 30 years of experience bringing solutions to the retail market. We also provide assistance to partners in other regions of the U.S. in times of supply or transportation emergencies. A majority of our supplier and retail partners are long term allies in the industry.
